Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Handy ("the App"), you agree to be bound by this End User License Agreement ("Agreement"). If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App. You must be at least 13 years old to use this App.

This Agreement is between you and Anders Rognlien ("Developer"), not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). The Developer, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content.

Scope of License

The Developer grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. This license does not allow you to use the App on any device that you do not own or control.

Access to the App purchased through Family Sharing or volume purchasing programs is permitted in accordance with Apple's applicable terms.

Handy Pro Subscription

Handy offers optional paid subscriptions ("Handy Pro") that unlock additional features.

Subscription Plans

  • Monthly: $4.99 USD per month
  • Annual: $24.99 USD per year (equivalent to approximately $2.08/month)

Free Trial

Both subscription plans include a 3-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. The trial begins when you confirm your subscription through Apple's App Store. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.

Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. The renewal cost will be the same as the original subscription price unless we notify you of a price change.

Managing Your Subscription

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time:

  • Go to Settings on your iOS device
  • Tap your Apple ID at the top
  • Tap Subscriptions
  • Select Handy and choose to cancel or modify

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods.

Maintenance and Support

The Developer is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services with respect to the App, as specified in this Agreement or as required under applicable law. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.

AR Measurement Accuracy Disclaimer

Handy's AR-based measurement tools (Tape Measure, Room Measure) use Apple's ARKit technology and provide estimates only. Accuracy typically ranges from 1-2% under optimal conditions but may vary based on lighting conditions, surface textures, device movement, and environmental factors.

IMPORTANT: Measurements from Handy should NOT be used for:

  • Construction or building projects requiring precise measurements
  • Legal or contractual purposes
  • Safety-critical applications
  • Medical or healthcare purposes

Always verify critical measurements with calibrated professional tools. Handy is intended for general reference and estimation purposes only.

Sensor-Based Tools Disclaimer

Tools that rely on device sensors (Level, Compass, Protractor, Plumb Bob, Stud Finder, Noise Meter) provide readings based on your device's hardware capabilities and may not match professional-grade instruments.

  • Stud Finder detects magnetic anomalies only; does not guarantee stud location or absence of hazards (electrical wires, pipes).
  • Noise Meter provides relative sound level readings, not calibrated decibel measurements.
  • Compass readings may be affected by magnetic interference from nearby electronics or metal objects.

Use professional equipment for safety-critical or professional applications.

Warranty

In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be the Developer's sole responsibility.

Product Claims

The Developer, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession and/or use of the App, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

  • Handy is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
  • We disclaim all warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the subscription in the 12 months preceding any claim
  • We are not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from use of measurement or tool data

Intellectual Property

The App and all its content, features, and functionality are owned by Anders Rognlien and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

The Developer, not Apple, shall be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any intellectual property infringement claim.

Third-Party Terms

You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App (e.g., your wireless data service agreement).

Legal Compliance

You represent and warrant that: (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or us. You may stop using the App at any time.

Apple-Specific Terms (Third-Party Beneficiary)

This Agreement is between you and Anders Rognlien only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Anders Rognlien, not Apple, is solely responsible for Handy and its content
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the App
  • In the event of any failure to conform to applicable warranties, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App or your use of it
  • In the event of any third-party claim that the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, the Developer, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such claim
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement and, upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this Agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
