How accurate is the AR Tape Measure?

The AR Tape Measure uses Apple's ARKit technology and is generally accurate to within 1-2% for distances up to a few meters. Accuracy improves with good lighting and textured surfaces.

Which tools are free in Handy?

Tape Measure, Level, Flashlight, and Compass are completely free. All other tools and the Projects feature require a Pro subscription.

Does Handy work without an internet connection?

Yes! All tools work completely offline. Your data is stored locally on your device. An internet connection is only needed for initial subscription purchase or restore.

Handy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Handy is designed with privacy at its core. All measurements, projects, and preferences are stored exclusively on your device. We use a third-party analytics service (AppsFlyer) to collect anonymous usage data to help us understand how the app is used and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

Device Sensors & Camera

Handy uses your device's hardware sensors and camera to provide its tools. This data is:

Processed locally and in real-time on your device
Never recorded, transmitted, or stored beyond the current session
Never shared with third parties
Under your complete control via iOS permission settings

Permissions We Request

Handy requests the following permissions, each tied to specific tools:

Camera — Used for AR measurements (Tape Measure, Room Measure) and Color Finder. No images or video are stored or transmitted.
Motion Sensors — Used for Level, Plumb Bob, Compass, and Angle Finder. Sensor data is processed in real-time and not stored.
Microphone (optional) — Used only for the Noise Meter. Audio is analyzed locally for decibel levels and is never recorded or transmitted.
Location (optional) — Used only for Compass heading accuracy. Location data is not stored or shared.

Data Storage

Projects, measurements, notes, and color data are saved locally on your device as JSON files. Preferences are stored via UserDefaults. No project data is synced to any cloud service. Anonymous usage analytics are transmitted to AppsFlyer's servers and retained according to their data retention policy.

Subscriptions

Handy Pro subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. We do not have access to your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs subscription transactions.

Third-Party Services

Handy uses AppsFlyer, a mobile attribution and analytics platform, to understand how users discover and use the app. AppsFlyer may collect the following data:

Device identifiers (IDFA with your permission, IDFV)
App usage data (which tools are opened, subscription events)
Install attribution data (which ad or link brought you to the app)
Basic device information (OS version, device model, language)

This data is used solely for analytics and attribution purposes. It is not used for personalized advertising. You can opt out of identifier tracking by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt when it appears. AppsFlyer's privacy policy is available at appsflyer.com/privacy-policy.

App Tracking Transparency

When you first use Handy, you will be asked whether to allow the app to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you choose "Allow", Handy will share your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) with AppsFlyer for attribution purposes. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", no advertising identifier will be shared. You can change this setting at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Children's Privacy

Handy can be used by users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children or anyone else.
